7 months was such a fun month for us! Ben started to become more active, accomplishing a complete roll (back to tummy then tummy to back) He had a hard time figuring out the tummy to back roll so this was a big stepping stone for us! He also figured out how to sit up on his own. I think this month was the most eye opening for me because i realized that he actually isn't going to stay a baby forever. (I know, right???) :'( At 7 months he started figuring out what position he needs to be in in order to crawl, but not exactly how to crawl. He did however, put his rolling and scooting skills to use! I give him solo play time in the mornings, and no matter if it had been fifteen minutes or three, when I came back to his room he would always be in a different spot than I left him! Imagine my surprise (and initial panic!) the first time he did this! This also was the moment I decided that NOW would be a good time to baby proof what I can, before I have to learn what to baby proof as we go (do NOT recommend this method) 7 months is also the month where he started to grab our fingers and pull himself up and then get suuuuper excited about it! This month was a more playful month over all. This was the month where Benjamin just wanted to DO things, move around however he could, play with whatever he could get his hands on, it's just been such a blast!
Now it's been 8 months with raising Benjamin, where has the time gone??! In just a few short weeks, he will be 9 months and as soon as I close my eyes to blink he will be one :''''( As excited as I am to celebrate a year with him, I am going to be an emotional WRECK! 8 months has been quite the adventure. At 7 months we were becoming more active, but now at 8 we are about 95% mobile! He's become such an eager explorer, and I'm not sure how I will keep up once he's actually on the go. Just the thought of it tires me out. We will be crawling and walking any day now (i know, SCARY) and everyday we get closer to it. I can actually now bribe Ben into crawling (without him realizing he can crawl) by placing objects in front of him which is so exciting but again, TERRIFYING. Just this morning I kept moving around the floor trying to give him a new goal and sure enough he is figuring it out! I am nervously tearing up just thinking about it. The 8 month mark has been moments mostly of anxiety, knowing these are probably the last moments of being able to set him down in one spot and have him stay in that general location. But of course it's not all anxiety, with every month watching him grow I love him more than I ever thought I could love someone and then even more, and the more he learns the more fun we can have! Some other milestones we have accomplished this month: Benjamin can now grab onto not just our fingers but other objects to pull himself up (all by himself!), he can now roll out of his bouncy seat from every angle or just by flipping the entire thing over (it was as frightening to watch as it sounds), he also has discovered that he can SCREAM, and he enjoys doing it! A lot!! This is also the month where he is putting his mouth on everything! My nose, licks my arm, on the table, arm of a chair, etc. He is loving being on the go more and being strapped into anything even less but that is understandable now that he has discovered the freedom of mobility. I can't wait to see what the next months bring! But now for what you all really came for, here are some pictures of our adventures with Benjamin:
